New in version 11

Group changes

In previous versions the implementation of similar changes was always done manually for each animal. This was a time consuming activity and has lead to many questions of users. Since version 11 it is possible to implement similar changes on a selected group of animals. For example, now you can change a selected group of animals as owned, mutate breeds and/or colors or you can register the date of death.

This is the procedure:

  1. Click on menu Animals (For example birds, dogs or rabbits)
  2. Click on Group change

Now there appears a window with checkboxes. For example, select the box Owned, make a choice between Yes or No and click Ok. This changes the field Owned for all selected animals.

The function for group changes is applicable for the list of animals shown only. You can adjust this list with use of the search function. By the final implementation of changes the content will be checked to avoid any contradictions. This way animals who have passed away cannot be transferred to owned.

Number of live and stillborn

When registering breeding pairs, the fields for recording live and stillborn were missing. Many users used the tab Remarks to record these data, but that was not where it was intended for. In version 11 we have added two fields to the detail window of the breeding pair, where you could register the number of animals born death or alive.

This is the procedure:

  1. Click on menu Breeding pairs
  2. Click on a breeding pair
  3. Click on Details

This screen will show these two new fields.

Check on breeding pairs

For certain animal species there is a restriction for the number of breeding pairs that a female or male partner can have. In ZooEasy there was not a check available until now. Since version 11 it is possible to set a maximum. ZooEasy will check this when you will record a breeding pair.

This is the procedure:

  1. Click on the menu File
  2. Click on System settings
  3. Click on tab General
  4. Click on the third tab Breeding pairs

Now there can be checked whether the verification should be performed on the male and/or female animals. Also the maximum numbers can be defined.

Search for animals in breeding pairs

In previous versions it was not possible to search for animals who had been in one, two, three or more breeding pairs. Therefor it could not be made clear how many times one animal was used in crossings. In version 11 it is possible to search for animals who have been in a certain number of breeding pairs.

This is the procedure:

  1. Click on the menu Animals
  2. Click on Search

On this screen there has a new search option added (circled in red). With this given example the search will start after clicking the Execute button. This will search for all animals who have been in two or more breeding pairs.

Measurement results on index cards

In previous versions the registered measurement results, like weight, were just printed on the index cards as a graph. This gave insufficient insights in the results. In version 11 there has been added a graph beneath the table where measurement results are shown by date.

This is the procedure:

  1. Click on menu Animals (For example birds, dogs or rabbits)
  2. Click on an animal
  3. Click on Reports
  4. Choose Print preview index card
  5. Click on Layout and check the option Measurements
  6. Click on Ok

The index card will now be printed with the graph and the table of each measurement category.

Other changes

  • For species that use the fields Set en Examined will be verified if the date of examination is not for the date of setting.
  • When a male specie dies, the box Current will be de-activated if there were breeding pairs where the male was active. For female animals this automatic option is deleted. The reason is that in practice the male was only used for fertilization and the breeding pair after the death of the male was still the Current status.
  • At the age calculation, the day of birth counted as one day. This is now changed so the animal is only one day old on the day after birth.
  • When printing the pedigree, there can be indicated whether the Birth data will be printed as well.
  • Browsing measurement categories is a new option when there are more than one categories on the tab Measurements of an animal.
  • On the detail screen of a breeding pair, the calculated percentages of the descendants will now be shown on basis of all descendants of one breeding pair.
